Advocate Christ Medical Center
Advocate Christ Medical Center believes in empowering women to be able to make
intelligent health care decisions. Since women's health encompasses so much more
than childbirth, we've designed our program to offer a complete line of specialty services
to address women's health care needs across the life span. Our role is to educate
women about the state-of-the-art options available at Christ Medical Center, the leading
provider of health care services to the Chicagoland area.

Christ Medical Center is home to numerous family practice, internal medicine and
pediatric physicians who can manage the wellness concerns of you and your family.
These physicians have offices on the medical center campus and at the Christ Women's
Health Center and at a variety of private offices conveniently located near you.
Our obstetrician/gynecologists can conduct annual exams and help you plan your
pregnancy and delivery. Sometimes, help is needed to start a family. Christ Medical
Center is staffed with reproductive endocrinologists (fertility experts) and other specialists
a helping hand.

More than 4,000 familes choose Christ Medical Center each year as the place to have
their babies - second in the Chicagoland area. We offer a complete roster of prenatal
classes for parents-to-be - and even some for big brothers and big sisters. Our Baby Advocate
program offers newsletters that provide tips on pregnancy and keeping your baby healthy
until age two. As a service to patients, mothers-to-be are automatically enrolled in this
program if they are delivering at Christ Medical Center.

To make labor and delivery as comfortable and as special as possible, we offer
family-centered care. Moms and babies are cared for by the same nurse in
labor-delivery-recovery (LDR) suites that offer many of the comforts of home. Should
complex needs arise during delivery, our status as a Level III perinatal center (the highest
designation possible) provides access to experts in the fields of perinatology (specialists in
maternal fetal medicine) and neonatology (specialists in newborn care). You won't find expertise
like this at many other hospitals. In fact, many hospitals across Chicagoland and as far away as
northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin transport infants to our neonatal intensive care unit.
As a new parent, you don't want to have to think about having to use these services. But it provides
peace-of-mind to know the capabilities are there.

Once you return home, you can still access lactation consultants through the The Lactation Center
for breastfeeding support and guidance.

We also offer a Post-Partum Depression Support Group, to those having trouble adjusting to
Motherhood.

When it comes to breast health, the Christ Medical Center Breast Health Center combines the medical expertise and services in one convenient setting. The center performs mammograms and offers advanced diagnostic capabilities, state-of-the-art treatment options, genetic risk counseling and bone density screening for osteoporosis. It is also home to the breast health conference, a weekly meeting of Christ Medical Center breast cancer experts from across the continuum of care who gather in one place to confidentially discuss women's diagnoses and options for care. A patient's care is coordinated for her - so she can concentrate on her condition. A breast health specialist is available 24 hours a day by pager to answer any questions or concerns patients have.
Uterine fibroids are the most common cause of premenopausal hysterectomies, accounting for one-third of all hysterectomies in the United States. Such prevalence has made uterine fibroids a major public health issue. Christ Medical Center's interventional radiology program offers the most state-of-the-art technologies to diagnose and treat uterine fibroids, including Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), a non-surgical treatment used to eliminate tumors, giving patients piece of mind and providing patients much needed relief from pain.
Providing educational assistance along the way are the:
  • Medical center-sponsored classes and screenings - providing lectures and events on a variety of health topics of interest to women of all ages.
  • The Lactation Center - more than just a library, the center offers a variety of print and electronic resources and is staffed by registered nurses who specialized in women's health issues. Nursing bras and specialty clothes for premature infants are available for sale. Breast pumps are available for sale or rent.
  • Senior Advocate - a program for both women and men age 65 and older focusing on health and wellness programming, screening and navigating today's health care environment.
A woman can experience incontinence at any age. What's important for her to know is that it's not

To choose a pediatrician for your child, you don't have to look any further than
